UN DEClaration on THe rights of indigenous peoples
This is the Article 7, Part 2 of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People. It was formalized by the UN in 2008, and ironically that was when the Australian Government apologized to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait People. It could be argued that this was the act that 'stopped it all' and made the government realise their past wrong.
In this article, it clearly states that 'forcibly removing children of the group' is a violation of human rights. It describes it as a form of genocide. It also allows Indigenous peoples the right to live in 'freedom, peace and security'. This sort of security being the opposite of the 'protection' they were given on the reserves.
